Robbery at Skyline Motor Inn
At 3:30 am. On May 1 the Skyline Motor Inn was robbed. Two masked subjects entered the reception area. They were armed and demanded cash from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspects escaped with a small amount of cash and a purse. No one was hurt during the incident which is still under investigation. On Wednesday, April 23 the Moose Mountain Business Appreciation Committee held its first Business Appreciation Night in the Prairie Place Complex in Arcola.

A new event called Moose Mountain Cruisin’ is coming to the area during the May long weekend, this year.

Carlyle’s Four Day School Week Committee is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, May 14 in the Gordon F. Kells High School gymnasium at 7:00.
The principal and vice-principal from Midale Central School attended our March meeting. They explained how their school year was set-up and had the information to answer many of our questions. During the long, dry, hot days of a Saskatchewan summer, there is no better place to be than a swimming pool. But people in Carlyle, who do not have their own private pool, may not have the opportunity to swim in the community pool much this summer.

Last month Alameda School’s community council was visited by Cornerstone School Division’s Director of Education, Don Rempel at their regular meeting.
At the meeting Rempel requested that the S.C.C. give consent to the board to consider closing the school upon the completion of a new school in Oxbow. Currently Alameda is a kindergarten to grade nine school with an enrolment of 96 students. Upon graduating from grade nine the Alameda students begin classes at the Oxbow high school. [more]
